Special-topic issues are an important part of EJBI journal. They deal with more focused topics of biomedical informatics and are organized by recognized experts in the field.
Special Issue proposals are welcome at any time of the year and should be submitted by the Lead Guest Editor of the Special Issue. In the Proposal of the Special Issue will be suggeted title for the Special Issue, proposed aims and scope and a list of guest editors who will join the Lead Guest Editor in managing the Special Issue. The proposal should specify at least 3 titles of papers with main authors that will be submitted to the special issue after the Call for Papers is issued.
All proposals are subject to approval by the EJBI journal editorial board members. If approved, a Call for Papers for the Special Issue will be issued. Deadline for submission after initial Call for Papers should be from 3 to 6 months. The first found of review should be 3 months after the submission deadline and the tentative publication 3 months after the first round of reviews.. Reviews are organized according to EJBI requirements by the Lead Editors of the Special Issue in cooperation with other Guest Editors.

Event-based issues are suited to fit organizers of various conferences and workshops. Such issues contain selected quality articles based on presentations at an event.
